Maternity Portraits

This mother was expecting her second child, and wanted a special portrait during her pregnancy with her first child. We chose Centerville Beach in Ferndale as the location. While I placed mother and child where I wanted them for the best lighting and composition, I then just let them have a nice afternoon together at the beach. This photo was my favorite from the session. The child saw the wave sneaking up on her and jumped as high as she could to avoid getting her feet wet. The photograph is one reason I really love shooting with digital. I didn't need to be worrying about changing film during the shoot and possibly missing a special moment like this.
