The Great Arcata to Ferndale Kinetic Sculpture Race takes place every Memorial Day Weekend. This three day event features a race of artistically designed human powered vehicles that must be capable of traversing roads, water, and several mud bogs. Some make it, others don't, and some need help from the Coast Guard, such as this entry, the Loch Nut Monster. Everything was going well for the monster until a pontoon bracket broke.
