South Fork Mountains Fall ColorPicture of the Month - November 2004 |

There are endless roads in Humboldt and Trinity counties to explore by motorcycle, especially if you have a dual purpose bike like my KLR650. Lately I've been exploring the roads off of Highway 36 in the South Fork Mountains. While chatting with a ranger at the Horse Ridge Lookout station, I was told I should check out Route 30. I found the fall foliage spectacular, and this little pond just charming. It is fed by two different creeks, and at the opposite side, the two creeks continue their separate paths. I used my new Kodak SLR/n for this photo, making good use of its ability to be set at really low ISOs, in this case I used an ISO of 25 to shoot this at f16 @ 4 seconds. ![]()
