Picture of the Month – April 2003
If April showers bring May flowers, then truly this month is going to be spectacular since it rained 25 days last month. Didn’t leave much time for outdoor photography.
Fishermen often boast about the one that got away, and this month’s picture is related to my own “one that got away” story. I was out one night with the Ferndale Volunteer Fire Department going door to door for our annual donation drive. As we were driving by the Ferndale Cemetery, there was a bright double rainbow landing right in the cemetery. Unfortunately, being in the fire truck at the time, I didn’t have any of my cameras with me. The next evening we had similar weather conditions so hoping for a repeat performance, I staked out the cemetery. For one brief moment I spotted a rainbow forming, but quickly my hopes were dashed when it immediately disappeared. So finally I gave up and walked around the cemetery taking closeups of wet flowers, such as this calla lilly.
